Two Tube Toothpaste

We are down to the bottom of a tube of toothpaste that we bought recently. It's one of those kinds with the dual action stuff. So there is really two tubes of different kinds of paste within the one tube. Or maybe ther is 4 tubes inside the one tube because they come out of 4 different holes. Anyways....The blue color is supposed to be fore cleaning while the white is for whitening. Well now that it is down to the bottom of the tube, it is hard to get the right proportion (if any proportion at all...sometimes only one kind will come out) to come out of the tube. Nic expressed this dislike of these kinds of toothpaste as soon as we opened this one. But I just said, Oh it's no big deal! But now I totally see where he's coming from, how can you get good clean teeth if only the whitening paste comes out!!! So to all of you I recommend not getting the dual tube toothpaste in you brushing futures!!

Here's something I've learned from my short career as a dental assistant: You really don't even need toothpaste. Shocking, I know. It's the friction of the toothbrush that does all the cleaning work (and if your wondering, electric tooth brushes are the best and well worth the $$). As far as freshening your breath, toothpaste does do a good job at that. The endless line of "Whitening", "Tartar Control", "whatever else colgate or crest use as a gimmick" may be harmful for your teeth if used in excess. Why? Because sometimes the ingredients in those toothpastes are more abrasive and over time may damage the enamel of your teeth. So I just buy the cheapest, normal, boring old toothpaste (as long as it's ADA approved, of course). [opinions stated above are not necesarally the opnions of every dentist you'll ever meet and are not approved by the ADA, so don't quote me] Thanks for posting about something that I'm obsessed about. It's strange, I know, but I love teeth.
